Artist's Description
Wandering Heart is a "fault in timber where the heart of the tree wanders from side to side, rather than remaining central." This image causes me to feel like this heart is trying to find a path, wobbling from side to side.
Maybe you, too, have found your heart wandering from side to side, especially during the pandemic? One minute I'm fine, the next I'm morose, then I'm okay and then I'm NOT. It's exhausting!
I love this paired with "X Marks the Spot" that was created immediately before this one. I think the two of them would make a gorgeous diptych.
I hope you enjoy it and thanks for looking.
About Christy Sawyer
I've been painting since I was nine years old when my mother put a brush in my hand and said, "This is how you do it." I must have been a good listener. My career as a a painter has come in waves, however. It has taken me a lifetime, but I am now a full-time painter. A few years ago I challenged myself to do a painting a day; hence, the eye paintings. I recently lost my husband of 47 years. As part of my bereavement, I visited my artist/sister, KC Pollak, in Colorado. We spent nearly all day for 10 days in her art cabin making alcohol ink paintings. What a joyful, healing time! And I found a new love and passion. Now I live my work and love my life even more.

This one has such great movement and composition. I love the colors too. It looks like the heart is trying to find a path and it can't choose. Really beautiful!
